Dear Ptarmigan, I was born in 1973 in Tehran. At the age of nine, I began learning the "Santur" (Persian hammered dulcimer) in the Organization of Preservation and publication with Ms.Roya Hallaj. After 5 years, I was introduced to Master "Farmarz Payvar" who was the famous and greatest Santur Master in Iran in order to continue my studies and improving the technical skills. I graduated from his school in 1998. I have been performing in many concerts and festivals such as International Fadjr Music festival (Tehran) and Mela International music festival in Norway and etc. I could achieve the first rank at Fadjr Music Festival at the years of 1991 and 1995. I am also an Agricultural Engineer (M.Sc) and am a member of World Cimbalom Association and a Persian Traditional and Folk music Ensemble called" Javan". I am going to Czech Republic tomorrow morning in order to perform at IIIV international dulcimer festival from 20th-25th of May. have a nice time cheers, Mehdi

Hey Mehdi,
It's an honour to have you with us.
I look forward to learning a lot from you about the Santur & its music.
I wonder, have you &/or your group "Javan" ever posted any video clips of your music on YouTube?
If so, please post some links. I'm sure the members here would love to hear some of your Santur music.
Have a wonderful time in the Czech Republic.
Cheers Dick
