very cool. Now, just to lower the ceiling a bit, here are a handful of limericks:
Mild mannered but guilty Clark Kent His dulcimer hammers still bent Was arrested while jamming For quadruple flamming And assaulting a blunt instrument
Jazzing up an O'Carolan planxty A dulcimest thought himself fancy It sound good far away But I wish he would play On the banks of a river called Yangtze
The hackbrette of one Viennese Had a tiny sweet sound sure to please It smelled rank in abuse From its secondary use Slicing hard boiled eggs and soft cheese
A lady who did aver Her distaste for hammered dulcimer Said "It bothers me not If you play a lot As long as you play far from here"
Said a festival goer in Plano I've heard dulcimer jams - and now I know The most similar sound That I've ever found Is a cat fight inside a Piano
A dulcimer player named Kevin Was playing in time of four/seven Said "I've found my D sharp When I got my harp And dreamed I was playing in heaven
To a band that was barely starting Bill Spence said "I must beg your pardon" Though the reel that you play Was once the Gaspe' It now is called "Victory Garden"
The dulcimest Terry O'Carolin Through McPherson's Fancy was barrelin Said I've got up such speed Airplane I won't need I won't stop till I get to Maryland
He hammered his box trapezoidal So out-of-tune it annoyed all The audience who Shoved the box somewhere new Now he has severe pains hemmorroidal
A Dulcimerist up in Maine Encountered disaster while playin' A Particular Fling He fell into the strings And his entire body was strained
In the center of old New York State There's a dulcimer gathering of late The people do come To pick hammer and strum And the music they make is first rate
Some folks are addicted to pot A chemical high is their lot But a dulcimer sweet Sweeps me off my feet I'm hooked and refraim I can not
A hammered dulcimer player named Reilly Puts zoom and zang into her stylee She zings and she squeals She bounces those reels She may toke off over the valley
There were two woman its true Who were bored with nothing to do Their dulcimers they played Met two guys and got laid I think their pretty lucky don't you
An erstwhile poet named Shel Was trying, but nothing would Gel He was in a sad daze Cried I can't find a phrase That rhymes with that incredibly multi-syllabic instrument the hammered dulcimer

A Dulcimer player named Gypsy, Had a habit of playing when Typsy, Then one day for a prank In the land of the Yank She stood, dressed in grey, playing Dixie!

& while I'm at it, here's one for Nikita:
There was a Hackbrettist called Niki Who played on the Dulcimer quite nifty. He played Accordeon too, and that's not easy to do, For playing both at the same time is quite tricky!

There was once a player named Dick who could do quite a trick, whilst strumming quite merrily, on his fretted dulcimerrilly, and hitting the other with the sticks!

Here's one inspired by recent events: There once was a man named Tal, With whom endless debate was enthralled, He hijacked a thread, but his invective fell dead, When by Ptar and Mac he was mauled!!!

LOL Chad, Gypsy. ;D
Well I suppose Chad, I'm the Baldy, Bearded wrinkly on the left, eh?
With my eating habits I could never ever be the slim dude on the right!
Say, does playing loads & loads of H-D help you to loose weight? Maybe that's the secret to a slimmer me ....... I'm off to practice .....
Cheers Dick
