Hi,
I'm in the U.S., in Michigan specifically.
We appear to have our own take on dulcimer mujsic and playing. We even have our own tuning if that's believable.
Mostly the music is old timey fiddle tunes around here but there are people who have delved into English dance music, classical, Beatles, you name it.
Contra dance music has a strong influence in this area but one of the refreshing movements is the trend to Irish Traditional Music.
A few pubs in the West Michigan area have pushed to feature Irish music and surprisingly the dulcimer is welcomed in these establishments.
We also have one of the largest gatherings of dulcimer players coming up this July in Evart Michigan with over 8 thousand people and over 400 dulcimer players gathering for a weekend of jamming, workshops and more jamming.
I'll likely lurk after this but thanks for the site

There's poor old drs55 living in splendid Dulcimer isolation, over in Israel & meanwhile, your going to sessions with 400 other Dulcimer players!

I hope you tell them all about this new forum, the next time you meet them all? ;D
