Hey there - thanks for welcoming me to the forum - all very exciting!!! Looking forward to meeting some fellow dulcimer players - there aren't very many where I come from & it can get a bit lonely!!! Anyway, I'm Kerensa. I'm based in Truro, Cornwall & I've been playing since I was about 12. In the early days, I had tuition from Jim Couza & Maclaine Colston - both fantastic players. I basically took what they taught me & over the years have developed my own style of playing. From the age of 14 I have played clubs & festivals in various guises - I was the founder member of the Acoustic Youth Band & organisation, played in a duo with Tim van Eyken etc. For the past 5 years or so, I haven't played a great deal, due to the fact that I've been bringing up 3 gorgeous children. However, I am getting back into it big style, with the launch of a new duo 'Leski'. My partner in crime is a fantastic fiddle player called Rich Trethewey. We play mainly Cornish & our own material. We have had loads of interest so far (we've only been playing together since feb) & have lots of gigs lined up. If you're a myspacer, you can listen to our new demo online - just go through the forums myspace. Would really like to know what you think!!! There are so many amazing Cornish tunes & they really lend themselves to the dulcimer. What we would love to do is take Cornish music further afield - it's well worth listening to!!! Look forward to finding out more about you all. Speak soon, Kerensa x

Hey Kerensa, thanks for such a lovely E-mail. I certainly feel I'm getting to know you already.
How does anyone rear three children & find any time at all to play a note of music, not to mention getting into the right frame of mind for music, in the first place?
Sounds like you've already had a fantastic time with your music & now your about to set off on yet another wonderful musical journey with Rich & 'Leski' - may I wish you the very best of luck with this new project.
Good Luck too with your mission to raise the profile of Cornish Music.
I trust you will keep us all posted & informed here?
Cheers Dick

Hi, Kerensa! Welcome to the forum!
I remember meeting you and your husband in Cork a few years ago, 2004, I believe. Sounds like things are moving right along for you.

;D Hey, I remember meeting you too - have to mention though that Steve wasn't actually husband - just my 'musical partner'! Getting married in October to a wonderful man called Del, who I have to say, is far better looking!!! (No offence Steve?!?) Hope to meet you again somewhere soon. X
