Hi all and thanks for the welcome. I live in south east australia, and play a hotch potch of instruments. Many types of music are represented in Australia, however the tyranny of distance and population numbers restrict the access to lots of similar players. This sometimes results in new slants on style. I have found this when I travel to the USA and realise there are many ways to play a dulcimer, and new ways being crafted as I type. It seems that new fronteers are being mined as much as traditions upheld. I like to "imitate' appalachian feels in some of my own tunes and gravitate also to the blues. That's when I'm not being celtic with intent. regards Adrian www.adriankosky.com

Hello again Adrian,
Great, another player from OZ! I hope you'll take a minute to click the button for OZ on our Geography Poll, in the General Discussion section. - Ta
Interesting, reading your thoughts on different styles, for I had some feedback recently on my own playing style, from an Old Time player writing from one of the southern states of America. He listened to my feeble efforts, which I have posted on MySpace, & he reckoned I played Old Time tunes on my H-D "like a Yankee" or put another way, he said they sounded far too Irish for his ears. Now he was a decent bloke & he was trying to be constructive at the time, so it was very interesting to hear his take on my style. I guess I was just being too "Celtic" for him, which, when you've been playing Irish for over thirty years, is not hard to do!
Needless to say, I've gone back to the drawing board!
Hope you don't mind but I've posted a link to your Website in the Links section.
Cheers Dick
