Good evening. Ptarmigan joined our community and I thought I'd drop by yours and say hello. I've got a few admissions. I'm not a Brit (but I worked for Reuters long enough to where it took serious concentration to spell colour...no...color correctly again). And second, I'm a fiddle and mandolin player who is in awe of dulcimer players, but I don't know what to do with that many strings. Thanks Dick for adding a few sessions in Northern Ireland. I suspected that Galway was not the only city with sessiuns. www.folkjam.org/national/map/ieScott

Err, security? Where those the guys running after me with the dulcimer hammers as I fiddled past the gate? I told the first one that my violin was an old model mountain dulcimer. As for the link to the site, www.folkjam.org is the right entry point link. The site automatically works out your city and starts you up showing the jams in that location when you come in through the front page. (this works about 60% of the time). The link I gave above is the map of Ireland - which for you is a perfectly good entry point, but not for say dulcidude who would rather see Michigan back in the States. Thanks for the warm welcome. Scott

Yeah, security are the guys (and girls) who counted your strings and found them to be not enough. Welcome, folkjam. Pretty cool website. I'll have to get the local Irish session guys to put ours in.

Thanks Mike - I am glad you like the site. We are so pleased with the reception it has gotten and are really impressed with the number of sessions that have been posted in the nine months we have been going.
That conversation with the guards about not needing the Bb string they kept insisting I needed makes a little more sense now.
