Hello,
I am very happy to be a part of this forum. My name is Antonis Ververis and I am from Greece. I play the Santouri which is the 'Greek cousin' of Hammered Dulcimer. However I am interested in meeting friends that play similar instruments

You are very welcome Antonis.
We hope to learn lots about the Santouri from you.
That's great Antonis, can we all come on Holiday to Greece & stay with you? ;D
Cheers Dick

Hello Antonis,
Welcome! I have a recording of Greek santouri music, which I enjoy very much.
I wonder - do many people play the santouri in your area? What about in Greece in general?

Hello Antonis ! good to see someone playing more "european" on this forum ! I play a few greek tunes on the hackbrett, quite influence by Lesbos style ! by the way, I play a tune (might be kyprian...) called O Charalambis, 7/8 meter : do you know if it's kalamatianos or another dance ?

Hello Deborah
Actually santouri (dulcimer) is played in many parts of Greece. However it is more associated to the islands of Aegean and the music of Greek refugees from Minor Asia (after the war between Greece and Turkey in 1922). I am happy that there is a strong dulcimer tradition in the island where I come from (Lesvos) which is regarded as the "santouri-island".

Hello Nikita,
Hackbrett is a really beautiful instrument and I would like to buy one some time. You see I have listened to Karl Schickhaus' recordings of renessaince and baroque stuff and I woud be interested in playing things like that very much.

Hello Antonis. Personnally I think Karl-Heinz Schickhaus is a littl out-fo-date, even if he did a great job to give the hackbrett tis right place in classicla music world. try to listen to Birgit Uberlacker, and to The Arpeggiata (you'll find the links on the hackbrett thread). Here in switzerland we have a young chap who plays hackbrett and cymbalum, but started on sandouri with greek music !
