Hello everybody, I somehow missed this page when I joined a fortnight or so ago. I live in Shrewsbury where I was born and where I came back to when I retired --- but I've always been a poor(AH!)and proud Salopian. I have been an amateur clarinetist most of my life involved in all sorts of music making & spending several years running a clarinet choir in the Midlands. At one period I was very much involved with recorder playing, and enjoyed playing with a mixed quartet. At another time I was a regular at the Warwick Folk Club and enjoyed the music and the company there, which was sometimes excellent and sometimes---???We enjoyed it anyway. Eighteen years ago I married, Marian, an American lady and of course I had to"SUSS" the place out and decided that she was very definitely, doing the right thing!! While I was there I bought a "build yourself"dulcimer--- the man did say it was easy to play--- how did I know he was joking? It is a Black Mountain dulcimer which I am struggling to learn on until Matthew Bascetta has time to produce a good one for me. Now that I am unable to blow my clarinet the Dulcimer certainly offers a testing challenge and I look forward to meeting new friends too. Best wishes, Roy(salopian)
