Hello all! I am glad to have found your forum. I am not a dulcimer player myself (I play bass fiddle, penny whistle, guitar, and frailing style 5-string banjo). My husband and I have long been fans and participants in Old Time Traditional Music, and have played Bluegrass and Jazz as well (he is a dyed-in-the-wool rocker, deep down). Most recently we have turned our attention to Irish Traditional Music, and are playing with a sextet of folks who are also concentrating on that. We are having a great time! Luckily, we are also able to participate in a weekly session that centers around Old Time Traditional and Irish/Celtic Music. Thanks for the warm welcome! annie So many tunes, so little time. 8^D

Hello there,
Great to have you on board.
Yes, I too play a bunch of other instruments, including Fiddle & I just adore the sound of a Frailing Banjo. I play mostly Irish & Old Time on my H-D but of course, being a Scot by birth I also have a head full of Scottish tunes so I enjoy playing them too.
You are very lucky to have that mixed session. Unfortunately although there are plenty of Irish session around here, the only Old Time Session within striking distance is in Belfast but it clashes with one of my weekly gigs & anyway, I hear they play a fair bit of Bluegrass too & I'm afraid that doesn't float my boat at all!
Next time you guys are in Ireland I hope you make it up here to the North Coast & we can swop tunes, till the cows come home! ;D
Cheers Dick

Dick, I'll be there early next summer, but I doubt that I'll be able to get near the north... I am accompanying my neighbor, and she has a set itinerary in mind.

Annie,
Perhaps nearer the time you can PM me with details, as we often travel south for gigs, at weekends, during the summer months.
Cheers Dick

Will do! It would be excellent to meet you and Sabine for a tune or several. I'm not guaranteeing my playing will be up to snuff though. LOL!

Not to worry - I gave up taking Snuff some years ago!
