Hello Tambalagiu & welcome to the Dulcimer Player's Forum.
We are all delighted that you are now a member and we look forward to your contributions to the discussions here.
Please tell us a little bit about yourself, your music & your Dulcimers.
Then, why not hop over to our Where are you? poll and click on your own area! N.B. I'm sorry Belgium isn't an option there, but at least you'll have a SPOT on the ClustrMap!
Cheers 'Ptarmigan'

Hello,
I'm a cimbalom player in Australia, one of the very few. I go to Romania, Hungary and Moldova a lot to learn from Roma/Gypsy musicians there in the styles that I am interested in. I learn by ear and concentrate mainly on 'traditional' repertoire: older-style muzica lautareasca and music from the Mures valley area of Transylvania. I have an interest in Jewish music from the same area too but dislike most modern 'klezmer' bands. I learned to speak Romanian to help my cimbalom studies, which has made going there much more interesting and fruitful.
My dream is to play the cimbalom every night in a restaurant for a living...

Welcome aboard. I bet you are enjoying better weather over there than the drab, dull & dreary day I have outside my window today. Cheers Dick

Welcome, Tambalagiu!
I enjoyed reading your introductory post. I find the fact that you learned to speak Romanian very impressive. I tried to learn a little Scottish Gaelic to help me sing some of the Celtic music that I love so much. I play hammered dulcimer and you and I share a similar dream- I, too, would love to earn my living playing my instrument in a restaurant every night! I would love to hear a sound clip of you playing your Romanian music!
