Hi, I'm Alan; I live at 7000' in the White Mountains of Arizona in a town called Eagar. I first saw and heard a hammered dulcimer played at the Agoura Renaissance Faire in 1986! I think I may have had a hankering for an instrument like this as I loved tinkering on the piano at home with the sustain pedal permanently engaged! I bought a small 12/11 on a visit to the Folk Shop in Tucson last year and have been slowly learning the rudiments. I also own and play tenor and treble(alto) recorders so I have a fondess for late Renaissance and Barogue music (not that I can play very well) I've gathered collections of English country dance music and jigs and reels and I'm learning more American folk 'standards' so I have plenty of material to mine. I now also have a MasterWorks 16/16 chromatic. My next dream dulcimer would be a ~Cloud Nine~ . . .
