These are swiss hackbretts layouts : two more traditional : the Schwander and the Fuchs, and one modern, the Ramser. On the Ramser Hackbrett, the system is conceived so that you can play the basses on either side of the instrument : on the right side (bass side), but also on the left. Marc makes also bigger instrument, going all the way to low C, with the same system, so you can play chromatic scales very easily. Phew! They look complicated Nikita!
It's fascinating to see these charts & get an inkling into just how tricky it must be to actually play those instruments.
However, I think I'll just stick to my simple wee Diatonic Hammered Dulcimer
.... anything for an easy life - that's me!
