i'm gonna be gifted a mountaing dulcimer soon, I actually purchased something called "jim bow" for my hammered dulcimer, they're like round bows, make the note a bit longer but not really like bowing the string. it the form it said it was for appalachian mostly. I guess a standard appalachian would need to be added a bridge to be bowed, then wouldn't the frets change in pitch?, is it possible to adapt easily?
