The North American Guqin Association is located in the San Francisco Bay Area.
It was founded by the three Wang Sisters, Wang Wei, Wang Fei and Annie Wang. Since guqin players are few and far between, we are using new technology to promote the ancient arts and unite qin players and aficionados worldwide.
Our goal is to introduce guqin music, exchange guqin information, make qin friends, offer guqin lessons, arrange and give guqin performances and so on.
We hope qin players and qin afficionados around the world will be able to communicate through our interactive web site.

Pronounced "chin" ("stringed instrument") or "goo chin" ("old stringed instrument"), the qin / guqin throughout its long history has been the musical instrument most prized by China's literati.
They categorized it as one of their "four arts", collected it as an art object, praised its beautiful music, and built around it a complex ideology.
No other instrument was described and illustrated in such detail, so often depicted in paintings, or so regularly mentioned in poetry.
Furthermore, its tablature documents the world's oldest detailed written instrumental music tradition, allowing both historically informed performance (requiring use of silk strings) of the many early melodies, and practical exploration of the relationship between Chinese music theory and music practice.
