Hi everyone, I'm glad to be here among such an intelligent looking bunch (from what I have been reading ) Some of you know me from EverythingDulcimer; I'm Ardenvoir over there. I like to play contra dance music (and other kinds of dance music) on my dulcimer. I don't play with a band, just occasional jams, but I'm looking for a band to join me. I've been playing for about 25 years, but only really learning how for about 4 years. I live in Virginia, in the Blue Ridge mountains, and I moved here for the scenery AND the music! It's a hotbed of old-time mountain music, and is a reasonable distance from lots of dulcimer festivals. You'll find I have an opinion on most things, but can't necessarily back it up with facts. LOL Oh! I almost forgot. I am most likely a distant relative of our esteemed moderator, Ptarmigan--my grandmother's family are Glasgows from northern Ireland (and likely from Scotland before that).

Howdy Cousin! ;D Fact is, it seems the Glasgows probably started out in Ulster, the name started, so they say, as an English corruption of the local name McCluskey! I'm sure you'll find lots more of 'our' relatives, over on the Glasgow forum: genforum.genealogy.com/glasgow/Cheers Dick
