Hello everyone, and thanks for the welcome! My real name is Priscilla Hernandez (my company name is "yidneth" that takes name from a illustrated project I did years ago as I'm an illustrator). I studied science but back in 2002 started to feel inclined to music, and with my self-taught keyboard, started to sing and songwrite and even rescue old compositions that I had made in secrecy. Suddenly my life changed a bit and started to sing and perform and collaborate as composer/vocalist in several albums, short movies and other projects to finally self-release my album Ancient Shadows late 2006. It won the award as best independent new age album in Detroit (ima awards) and was nominee in los angeles as best new age vocalist (something quite unexpected for someone so independendent and little known as me). On the learning curve i've been learning more instruments, flute, whistle, medieval clarinet, hank drum, and other weird stuff and improving my skills, but always in love with the hammered dulcimer, after premiering in USA this summer and fall my booking agents gifted me an apprentice dusty strings (after my yearning and moarning and longing to have one). There is simply no place to learn it here where I live, in Spain, but i'm determined to learn it, and I absolutely love it... on my journey to learn it, i shall know that probably will need a better one, or chromatic, or that there's a big world of work to master it, but in a few weeks i start to mess with it and be albe to plan some single arrangements for some of my songs on stage... so i hope just to be able to enrich my compositions with it in a simple way, and make people around in my country more aware of its lovely sound. Wish me luck! and I'll be roaming in the beginners sections, and reading all your advice. for my previously composed music (no dulcimer (yet)) video youtube.com/yidnethand music myspace.com/priscillahernandezyou're very welcome, and once more thanks!! and this is the happy me with my first dulcimer (it's a dusty strings apprentice one) Already got an extra pair of hammers padded and struggling to install a pickup into it. and this is me happy with my dulcimer the day it arrived, promise to be around and grateful with your advice

Wow! What a great introduction Priscilla. It's really wonderful when new members take the time & trouble to tell us about themselves. I regularly visit a number of other forums & I know that the more I am prepared to contribute to the forum, the more I actually gain in return, from the experience, so, that being the case, I have no doubt you will learn a lot from being an active member here. In turn we will all learn something from your visits & hopefully we can help you with your Dulcimer passion. Your music is beautiful & I'm sure the Hammered Dulcimer will fit in very nicely. Cheers Dick

Thanks for the welcome, I really love the sound, I found out dulcimers when I was a child, as I was in love with kanteles and psaltery sound by then, never had the chance to have one till now, i'm very encouraged and today i watched videos with the evolution of this first two weeks, I may feel I cannot play a note but certainly i'm doing better than the first day LOL best regards, and certainly shall be around!
