Hello all. I'm still new & looking about the site - most impressive!
I see, Ptarmigan, from a year ago that you were discussing hammer designs & you posted a super pic of your spread of hammers. Among them you've got a couple which are either Oakwood or the same design - single sided & recognisable by wee holes in the heads where they hang them up to dry!
The first set I got with my original instrument are made from rosewood and apparently are Eastern European in design, I'm told. They fit snugly between index & middle finger. With the Oakwood instrument came, surprise, Oakwood hammers, and with those curves I find they seem to want to sit 'twixt thumb & top finger. How do you - or anyone else - find this sort? How do you hold them? I'm wondering if having let them sit there for a while I ought to change my grip, or my hammers, or carry on as I am. I now know the "official" grip is between the fingers - is there a great advantage thus? Best wishes, Richard.
