Jim, Am I right in thinking that's your Dad in the Photo at the top of this forum, 'Andy' 3rd from the right? I'm sorry to hear you are not well, get well soon .... oh & I wish you the best of luck stringing up those Dulcimers! I completely restrung a Dulcimer a couple of years back. It was the first time { & probably the last time too!} .... it took me over 12 hours from start to finish & my hands were like pin cushions at the end of the operation! I hope you have more patience than I had? Cheers Dick

Well, you lucky HD players.... I just restrung my hackbrett : 144 strings, 9 hours work with a friend... and next week I'm putting on a new damper system... but it's so worth it (actually my strings were 13 years old....), the feeling of having quite a new instrument !

Jim, I'm sure Jack here, doesn't live too far away from you {Blantyre} & I'm sure he'd not only be able to point you in the right direction for Piano wire, but I have no doubt he'd be happy to help. Good Luck By the way, have you seen the photos of your Dad on Jack's website? If not here's the link: Glasgow Dulcimer GroupCheers Dick
