ATTENTION Dulcimer Players! There is a Scottish Hammered Dulcimer on 'Flog It' BBC 2 right now! Very like the Antrim Dulcimer in size & shape, but being sold in Paisley, I think. 3 Strings per course, black sound board, Gold coloured Chess Men Bridges & two triangular sound holes with two Shamrocks on a stem, in each! Time is now 4pm & it'll be coming under the hammer very soon! Flog It! BBC 2Cheers Dick

Interesting, I'm surprised it made so much. It looks fairly typical construction and although the chess men bridges were less common in Scottish dulcimers, they were used sometimes. Although it's only an 8/8, octave bass tuning would still give 2 1/2 octaves.
I have an old dulcimer that belonged to Jimmy McHugh that has chess men bridges and f shaped sound holes. Unfortunately most of the bridges are missing but one of these days I'll get round to doing something with it.

Just think Jack, once you retire, you'll have plenty of time to fix it up!
