Hi there, is anyone writing songs on their dulcimer and performing them in your part of the world? In coffee houses or folk clubs? At festivals? Do you have dulcimer clubs like in the USA? regards Adrian

Hi Adrian,
There's someone here in Israel by the name of Bradley Fish. You can see a couple of his vidoes on youtube. Type dulcimer Bradley Fish in to the seach box and take a look.

I don't know if my part of the world counts, Dick, but I've written, recorded and performed 3 originals now on my MD. Can't wait to go back and listen to them in 5 years LOL!

There's something intriguing about sticking an instument into a totally different context. Yes of course it may just have a novelty value but at the same time, in the hands of a good musician, a strong piece of music can still come across (as anyone who's heard Richard Thompson's "1000 years of popular music" show should testify). Anyone out there experimenting with heavy metal dulcimer or reggae dulcimer - now there's a thought!

Part of the short story as to how my interest in all things dulcimer was awoken was seeing/hearing the lovely Cyndi Lauper on a YouTube Video singing "Time after time" and playing a mountain dulcimer.
Maybe not quite contempary, but what the heck !
Cheers
Peter
