I just received this rather interesting info from one Shirley Burnett.
My father James Burnett, played hammered dulcimer in 1930s. He took lessons & my grandfather & great grandfather made him a new dulcimer every year in exchange for lessons for my father. All men in this Burnett family were named James Joseph Burnett. They lived in Glasgow, Scotland.
Shirley is keen to learn a little more about them, so Jack .... it's over to you!
Unfortunately I don't have any information on James Joseph Burnett. You can see some photographs and hear some clips of the Glasgow dulcimer group in the 1980's on my website, www.jackbethel.webs.com Some of these players started playing in the 1920's and 30's. The interview with Andy Fagan might also be of interest. David Kettlewell has a lot of information on Scottish dulcimer players at dulcimer.new-renaissance.com/ but no mention of the above.
