South Wind indeed!
Hey Poco, it's all very well for you to wax lyrical, in a musical way, by playing the South Wind, but spare a thought for folks like us, who happen to live 500 ft up on an exposed hillside, which is regularly battered by that self same Irish South Wind, well South West Wind actually, but same difference!
Ha Ha but seriously, I really enjoyed your playing of that tune. Thanks for posting it here. As Mrs Ptarmigan is only starting to learn the Mt-D, it'll be handy for her to watch & pick up some very useful playing tips . Ta
Cheers Dick

Hello all,
Sorry, but I don't think I know how to post a link. I just stumbled across this and really liked the sound. They live in Australia (Perth, I think) and are called Laliya. Go to youtube and search for Laliya - Just Like River. Lovely stuff.

Here's the you tube video that made me get the dulcimer (and I will be getting the Kaosscillator soon - everyone's out of stock right now). www.youtube.com/v/Njiy8XzX-lM

That was wild.
I used to have a padKontrol, used it for drum work - never thought of doing something like that.
I love the sound of a hammerd dulcimer.
I wish I could play one for real, just don't have the eye-hand coordination to pull it off.

The only thing I can "PULL OFF with eye-hand coordination" these days is my Jumper .. & I'll be honest, I don't always manage to do that to neatly or elegantly either! Joking apart though, I'd say it'd take a fair bit of practice to play it well. Of course, for a Traditional musician it just doesn't look right. Cheers Dick
