Hi, I live in Hertfordshire in the UK. I have played guitar for a number of years and have always had a keen interest in folk based music. I first became interested in the dulcimer after listening to Joni Mitchell's Blue album and finally got round to buying a mountain dulcimer a couple of months ago and am so glad that I did. Having used solid wood guitars for some years I do appreciate the sound from a solid wood instrument. I tried some laminate dulcimers but they just didn't 'sing'. After doing some research on line I spoke to Robin at Bird Rock Dulcimers in Wales. He markets his own version of the USA hand made Bird Rock instruments called 'The Red Kite'. Mine has solid walnut back and sides and fret board with a cherry top. It is truly a beautiful instrument, the sound is resonant and sweet and will only improve. I am really looking forward to learning to play it properly. Many hours of eagerly awaited pleasure ahead!
Cheers 'grahama'
